only got oil a month ago and bled it then, i tried resetting it too. also opened the longer allen keyh sorta screw near the reset switch and oil was coming out there so assume thats correct. it tries to fire up then stops again. worked last week no problem when i had it on.

Does it actually fire before locking out?
(count to 12, then it should fire, or lockout by the time you count to 17)
tell me exactly what it does.....

Ok, I press the button on the thermostat inside, the burner makes the noise it usually does but instead of kicking in it goes back off then retries. Best I can describe it.

if its the high limit stat that is tripping then its a circulation problem
    possibly your pump

If its retrying (after 1 second of firing) does this maybe once or twice before lockingout, then it's related to combustion, clean the photocell and try again

If it still occurs then your gonna need a service, new nozzle, and possible air adjustment (over airing will cause this)

If its outdoors in a cabinet, often there seal on the mounting flange or the burner blahs tube oring fails and allows some combustion products out which are taken by the air intake and collapses the flame (known as recycling) this will cause the boiler to 'hunt' and eventually lock out

Left it for 15 mins and it kept retrying to fire up but no joy. Reckon I'm gonna need to get someone to look at it. Anyone know who I can call? Bray area? Pm me. Thanks for all your help guys.

Agree with DGOB, clean the photocell, 2 minute job.

Ok lads I will give it a go. Can someone tell me exactly what the photocell is? And where it would be? Cheers.

RDB, Undo red cover on burner, you will see a black lead attached to a photocell positioned towards the top of the burner and if you pull it out clean the lens with a tissue.
