    have a terios 00d 1.3 petrol ,(not import) battery light staying on, battery ok,-- if i give it a tap with something it goes off for a while.But eventually comes back on. Do i need a new alternator or is something just stuck. ,looking into engine i think you would need to be a 6 inch midget to get at it

    What is 'it' that you push down on? The battery? Alternator?

    You need to have the alternator checked to see if its charging correctly.

    alternator charging ok when battery light is off,,it,s the alternator i push down to make battery light go out

    So the belt is loose and/or you need to get your alternator checked. You've answered your own question!
