A stupid question perhapss but humour me, I take the 123 and there's usually a queue of 20 on O'Connell street. If I have a rambler can I just skip the queue and get on the left cars swipe side.

Cash paying passengers board to the left and prepaid/smart card ticket holders board to the right. Prepaid ticket holders can board ahead of those paying cash if there is a queue.

I feel that the standard procedure is that, on embarking a bus, two queues are formulated: one for cash-paying/travel pass passengers on the left and pre-paid tickets on the right.

I used to get the 123 regularly when the service was mostly single decker and this was more of a contentious issue. If the bus wasn't packed to the brim, I had no problem skipping the queue, in the view that, I've pre-paid for my ticket, so I will enter on the right. The dwell times back then for the O'Connell Street stop were ridiculous.

Fortunately, there's no such thing as queuing in this country. It's more democratic; those who want to get on first push to the front and those that aren't that bothered hang loose at the back - everyone's a winner.
