I'm sure something like this has been done before but it's a nice light hearted thread to get some positive discussion going on here.

Basically what I'm asking is who is your favorite MMA fighters Internationally, in Ireland right now and of all time.

    Internationally
I have 2, BJ Penn and Vitor Belfort-2 just pure talents that at peak to me are unstoppable.

    Ireland
my favorite fighter is Conor McGregor-No BS fighter who gets in to finish his opponents and usually does it in an entertaining or devastating fashion, Greg loughran comes close in my favorites as does Norman Parke and maybe some day we will see these in action against each other.

    All time
This 1 is tricky as i feel the best MMA fighters are the ones around now as there more evolved, so my all time is more of an old fighter than who i think is the best ever if that makes sense, Chuck Liddell-to me he made modern day fighters take note of his style and realize if done right it was a winning formula

Tough one, you kinda need to distinguish between favourites, and who ya think is best. I thins the best would have to be Anderson Silva, i hate his style, hate his bull****, but his skill is hard to question. My favourite fighter has to be be Marcus Davis though, bit past his prime now, but good god, the mans a dogged fighter.
Cant comment on Domestic, i dont really follow it.
    All time? Randy Couture.

International - Shogun Rua and Carlos Condit. Love both their fight styles

    Ireland -
I'm embarrassed to say I know nothing of the Irish MMA scene :o

    All Time -
My favorite all time fighter is Chuck Liddell.

International - GSP. Love him or hate him he is the Iceman of MMA.

"You wanted to know who the best is?
That's him. Iceman. He flies ice-cold. No mistakes. Wears you down. You get bored, do something stupid, and he's got you." - Goose

Ireland - Owen Roddy. I love his style - his striking and ground are superb and his wrestling is similar to Nog/A. Silva - underrated and a beautiful link between his striking and ground games.

All Time - A tough one, but Sakuraba. Totally fearless, a great combination of wrestling and ground game for his time, and enough striking to stymie one dimensional fighters. Also appreciated the link between the business and sport side of MMA.

    International:
GSP and Frankie Edgar. They both have enourmous talent and I have to admire their work ethic.

    Ireland:
I've only started following the Irish scene recently enough but from what I have seen I'd say Conor McGregor. He seems to be one of the more exciting fighters and if I had to pick someone who's headed for the UFC it'd be him.

    All time:
Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell. Always loved watching their fights.

Not my personal P4P best by any means (although some certainly feature on that list). These are just my personal favourites.

Internationally: Frankie Edgar, Dominic Cruz, BJ Penn, Chael Sonnen, Nick Diaz, GSP, Some of the most skilled and exciting guys are what you get at the lighter end of the scale and they're just some of the guys I like watching the most.

Domestically; Conor McGregor. His style, his attitude, his personality all combine to make quite an admireable fighter. He busts his nut in training and always seems to be getting better and better. Surely one of the guys on the scene that jump to mind if you pose the question; Which Irishman is the one, besides Paul McVeigh, that you think will one day make it to the UFC. With obviously powerful and technical striking, he couples it with an underrated grappling game. But nobody should make the mistake that they'll take him on the ground, even a little bit! Finally, he loves to finish. What's not to like?

Richard Gorey. I've only seen him once but he looked impressive in the few seconds he was in the cage. A powerful striking game coupled with impressive grappling skills and impressive strength a mean man and prospect make! I can't wait to see him fight again.

Brian Moore. He has crisp, technical striking and movement and very solid, ever improving grappling. Shows great heart and determination and has a great work ethic. Like to put on a show and also a rising star.

All my picks seem to be coming from the lighter weight classes in both categories so far! I'll post my GOAT etc later. I've ****ed on long enough!

    Internationally:
    Rory McDonald, Gilbert Melendez

    Domestically:

I can't say I've seen enough fights domestically to warrant an opinion.

    All Time:
    Chuck Liddell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 863 ✭✭✭bjj-fighter

    International:
Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, Shogun or Aoki

    Domestic:
It's gotta be Owen Roddy, not only that he has coached me since I was 12, but his style of BJJ and Striking is so exciting, and when he puts it together in the Cage it's great to watch! Plus who doesn't like that many knee to the body stoppages!

In close second would be Conor McGregor. He is such a good striker and a very exciting fighter, stops almost all of his opponents in the first round! Very underrated ground game and has been working on his wrestling a lot, I can see Conor achieving great things at FW.

Paddy Holohan would be one of my favorites aswell, he's great all-round and has a relentless pace. A very exciting grappler!

    All time:
Would probably have to be Sakuraba, Rickson, Royce, Randy Couture, Vitor Belfort or Big Nog.

Paul "Semtex" Daley I know everyone is sick of hearing and seeing Wrestling>Brittish MMA and Paul seems to be the only one working really hard to constantly improve his wrestling, keep the fight standing and knock people out in an exciting matter. Also wanna mention Pat Barry

    Domestically
Pendred, great future ahead of him and he KGB. Huge fight announcement today, really looking forward to it.

    All Time
Very tough question as the sport is so new. I mean the guys who's fights I've gotten most excited for over the years are Overeem and Hendo.

Bas...well coz look at him...he's Bas
Silva.... coz you don't believe what you're seeing is physically possible
Chuck.... coz leading left hooks and overhand rights like that is just Knockout art

    Favourite;

International: Nick Diaz. Love the fact he can back up his obvious attitude problem with a solid MMA game.

Domestic: Ben Davis. Humble and very good at what he does. Always love watching him go.

All Time: Randy Couture. What the man did in his older years is nothing short of insperational.

    Best in my opinion;

International: GSP. Most well rounded game in the sport

Domestic: Norman Parke. Most well rounded game in Irish MMA.

All Time: Cant pick one between Anderson Silva, GSP, Fedor, Randy. Very hard to call.
