I'm purchasing a MacBook Pro in the next week to use primarily for Photoshop CS5 & Dreamweaver. I am unsure as to wether to buy it in store on Grafton St (i7 with 4GB Ram) or to purchase online on the apple store and pay extra for 8GB Ram, will it make much of a difference and is it worth the extra 200e?

While I doubt that Photoshop and Dreamweaver will be that taxing (I can only speak from experience with my Windows PC, but I've never seen memory usage being pushed near 4GB with those applications open) - if you're very concerned about it, upgrading the memory yourself is a far cheaper (and, based on what people have said here, problem-free) solution. There's plenty of instructional videos on YouTube, and I recall someone saying that you could pick up a set with the required screwdriver(s) [if you don't already have one] in Tesco for a good price.

    Hi,

The apple memory is waay over priced.
i've used crucial.com in the past when upgrading and have never had a problem.

this is a link to the memory you'll need going by the spec you've mentioned.
macbook pro memory on crucial it comes in at €50 , and looks like free shipping too :)
speaking of which, shipping usually only takes a few days.

oh, and if you're a student you should be able to get a discount too(on the macbook, not the memory),
    both online and at compub.
    so check that out!!

how much of a difference it will make with those programs i have no idea as i don't have em.

lucky you to be getting a new macbook:D
