I am thinking of getting away from it all and go on a solo vacation next year. There are so many places to choose from, I want to go everywhere! haha...not possible I know!

Anyway, I would welcome any sugesstions on good and safe places for a solo female tourist to travel, especially one who is not a seasoned traveller like me (a beginner! :D)

I just a need a few good ideas on places that are good for a female in her thirties on her own.

I have thought about travelling around Russia as its a country I have wanted to visit for a while now, but I don't know whether its safe for a female on her own to travel there.

    Any suggestions?

For Russia, I think it is safe (but then again, I think everywhere is safe) but you may need to learn a bit of the lingo. As a female I always feel safer and more confident if I know the language.

How about South East Asia? Or South America?

Pretty much all of south east asia is safe and great a female to travel alone. Oz is pretty easy too. U will meet so many people. But I would suggest the philippines or Fiji. They both have amazing english. Once you get out of the capitals its happy days. The people are amazing. Super beaches, islands, beer, food, diving, snorkling... endless things to do and so cheap. Don't be scared about traveling alone. Once you have a little bit of cash u can pretty much buy yourself out of any situtation :)

I think European cities are great to do alone! I’d recommend going somewhere (or a few places!) in Italy personally. There’s so much to do if you’re a culture buff. Loads of great art, churches, museums, monuments etc.

I find eating alone very easy there too, there’s lots that can be bought ‘on the go’ if you don’t want to sit in a restaurant by yourself. And I just love Italian food in general :P

The people are generally quite nice too. I don’t speak the language, but if I make even a small effort they’re very receptive.

The only ‘unsafe’ things might be the 1. the traffic… they’re not the safest drivers over there, so just be careful and always on the look out when crossing roads (just because you have a green man that won’t stop them!). 2. Beggars; some areas have lots of gypsies (especially around train stations) so just don’t give them the time of day if they approach you (sorry if that sounds cruel, but there are lots of warnings about them just looking to scam/rob tourists).

And of course the weather tends to be good :)
