    Hello,

I bought a 308 up north in 2009, car is 2008 there were 8000 miles on clock. Ive had the car since and have had all services completed on time at a peugeot dealership. last service there was an noise from timing belt area and garage advised replacement, there are only 32000 miles on clock. I had it done as was told if the belt went then it would cost me alot more money. Garage said belt isnt normally replaced unitil at least 60000miles, I now have the belt and it is clear to see where there was water leaking into it which was causing the noise.

Ive contacted both peugoet Ireland and UK, both not interested, anyone out there with similar experience or advice to give?

    Thanks!

The belt in itself won't make noise it has to be and idler or the water pump. Sounds like the waterpump, was it replaced?

The last engine I rebuilt was a p307 where the water pump failed and took out the timing belt...

    Hi,
Yes there was water leaking into the timing belt, I have had the work done and have a new timing belt, my thinking on this is that it is not normal wear and tear but something faulty so in my opinion I shouldnt have to bear the expense!

Yea not something you should have to pay for. Did you get the old part or a report of the problem?

What is the manufactures warrenty on the car? If they won't play ball, small claims court is the way to go....

    HI all,

They have replaced the timing belt and the water pump, I have the belt only, Im so annoyed as the manufaturer states the life of a timing belt in the booklet and when you challenge the dealer on it they just say the warranty is up on the car ( only since May )
