As it is not allowed to discuss specific dentists on this forum for legal reasons where can I discuss peoples experiences with specific dentists?

What do you do??? Where can I name and shame you with one sided....?

Unfortunately, you can't please everyone all the time and usually it is the annoyed patient that shouts the loudest often with little or no fault of the dentist and posts on boards... "I went to Dentist x and he told me that I needed 5 fillings and a root canal but Dentist y said that I needed 2 fillings, dentist x is such a bad dentist and robbing ba$tard"- the first guy might have been correct and not the second guy but the patients opinion.......

Then you also leave boards open to the unverified shillers and suddenly boards becomes one big advertisement for 6 month braces or veneers or bleaching... We would prefer that dental issues asks and answers questions about dental health and treatment...

So to answer your question- not here- sorry...

    OS

The fact is that even though its easy to post on a discussion forum and its interesting to get opinions, posting on boards.ie is not a free speech environment, its publishing and subject to all the liable laws that go with that. Posters are personally responsible for what they say as is boards.ie.

Thats all true but I'm looking for a good dentist and its always good to get a range of opinions rather than one or two PMs saying somebody went to dentist X and they didn't die.

The flip side also is a few people can name and shame poor dentists to stop the cycle of abuse.

If there is somewhere else to talk about this I would appreciate a PM.

the dental council is the forum for any legitimate grievances.
pity there isn't a bankers council, car-mechanics council, property management company council, teaching standards council, county councillors council...............

Best of luck OP, This forum is run/controlled/modded by dentists for dentists.
They seem to be terrified of the public actually discussing anything remotely related to peoples experiences in dentists whether it be good or bad. I've had an extremely positive experience with a dentist in D6 and an extremely negative experience with one in D24 but can't praise or blast either. Dentistry in Ireland seems to be the last bastion of medical arrogance.

Quite untrue, I am not a dentist.
Recommendations ae by PM - if you want to make a difference to someones dental experience PM them the great dentist you used.

I'm locking this as it's already descended into a moanfest about dentists.
