Not sure if it's been covered but does anyone know how much the 4S (16GB) is likely to cost from Apples ROI website when it goes on sale in a few weeks?

    as above, not released yet.

My guess, same pricinf structure as the current 4 :

    16gb - €599
    32gb - €699
64gb - €799 (maybe €749 so not to overprice it)

Prices above are for sim free apple store. Obviously network phones will be cheaper with 2 year contracts etc and PAYG units, maybe 20e less than the apple store prices.

Is the price of the current 4 being dropped ?

based on previous editions, then yes, it should drop in line as the the 3GS after the 4 was announced.

you will pick up an 8gb iPhone 4 for about 499 http://store.apple.com/ie/product/MD128?mco=MjU1NTYxNzA

I see. Thats hardly a deal though given its 499 for same phone on apple website ?

The 3Gs 8gb is 349 in apple.ie - should we expect iphone 4 to drop to that ?

TBH, no, i can see the 3GS being discontinued. The 499 is the apple site.

Unless, they keep the 3GS as a budget iPhone and offer it for 299 or something similar through the apple site.

The current prices for the 3GS and the iPhone 4 are the dropped prices. They won't be dropping any further.

the prices are dropped every year in roughly the same % discounts.
People keep expecting apple to drop them to very little, but it never/wont happen, then act surprised that they didnt drop them more, but if anything iPhone pricing is fairly predictable, they can be valuied better than houses these days :D

cheapist way to get one is free on contract, but the mnthly paymenst might screw people.

I'm not interested in contract since my experience is contract screw me over. Also 18/24 month contracts ? Are you kidding me ? No clue where I will be in 6 months never mind 24 months. For first time in years I'm thinking to go to prepay with Three. 20EUR a month and all you an eat data ? Nice. Will buy a phone separately and just get a sim card

Im the same, i went to Belfast last year for the 4 to use on my sim only plan (30 day) with Meteor.

The 3GS is decently price on the apple store considering its brand new with warranty, but the 4 is a big big improovement and if you bought the 3GS, imo, you'll be sorry you didnt wait an extra few weeks to save the extra to get the 4, again imo of course.

maybe adverts will have a few 4's for sale when the 4s hits the markets properly down here?

This post sums it up for me, no interest in being trapped in a contract for the next 24 months, sim-free is the only option I would consider. I could buy a 4S for €600 and in a years time sell it for €400. Was thinking of going to 3 pre-pay myself, anyone have any experience with them? Not sure what their signal is like, would like to try a free sim before I change my number..
