If its FULLY road legal eg proper lights, lisence plates etc.. you can get it insured as a farm vehicle, like a tractor would be.

    Pretty Sure FBD do it:)

    Have you try'd FBD?

FBD will not cover it unless it is being insured as part of a farm policy so its pointless ringing them if he is looking to insure the quad only.

This may be a silly question but did you not make ANY inquiries about insuring it before buying it?

    Have you tried Carol Nash?

They do bike insurance and might be able to point you in the right direction.

Try AON Bikecare, they're pretty good for bikes and scooters so worth a try with the quad

Are the OP's issues down to insurance companies simply viewing Quad bikes as just too risky to cover ?

You can barely own a quad in Ireland without the boyos having a go at stealing them.
    They are constantly getting stolen.

Doesn't help that golf clubs and farmers sometimes leave them in isolated sheds

    Security is vital

A relative of mine is a hospital consultant who like many consultants here worked in the US for years , whenever he sees someone on a Quad bike he says '' Good to see another Organ Donor ''.
Apparently the invention of the Quad bike did more to boost the level of organs available for transplant in the US than any donor recruitment campaign ever did !
Still , a major pain for the OP struggling to find an insurer.

Well that the USA, a country where it's possible to ride a motorcycle with no helmet

More to do with that then the quads I think

Unfortunately in this country quads are in a grey area where no one will insure them. Car companies won't touch them and we had enough trouble getting some competition in the motorcycle market I can't see quads getting taken up soon.

By law the 1st company that refuses has to offer you a quote after your 3rd written refusal. There's no law which says it has to be anyway responsible though!
