hi all ex-eircom isp tech here

checked the connection with Eircom - failed got the same error 'an error has occured when trying to play a chosen programme'

checked with Clearwire - streaming perfect

issue appears to be with eircom DNS or 4oD blocking people routing from Eircom

    Solution -

manually enter yourself and IP address, subnet and Gateway and give yourself the OpenDNS servers

    First DNS: 208.67.222.222
    Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220

    tested on xp/unix/win7/ios5

Channel 4OD won't let me watch some programmes...I tried the above but it's not working. Just wondering, when you say manually add an IP address, subnet and gateway, what figures am I supposed to be entering? I'm a bit of a technophobe...

Well jeffbluesmoke, you are a genius. Couldn't figure out how to change is via control panel but was able to adjust settings on the router using your DNS figures. Fair play to you, now I can catch up with phone shop on 4OD. Many many thanks. :D

I changed to Google's DNS and it fixed the problem.

Anyone had problems getting 4oD with the latest Flash player? I tried with IE8 and Opera tonight with Flash 11.1.102.55 and it would not play, but in Firefox that I use for BBC iPlayer via Tor, with Flash 10.3.183.10 it works fine.
