There seems to be problem with my Bluetooth on my iPhone 3gs.

As far as i know it has never worked, the phone was got through my insurance a couple of months ago. i went in to Vodafone today to see if it can be fixed. they did not seem to know if it was under warrenty. I have tried to connect to another iphone 3gs, 4 and ipad2 with no success. woman in vodafone said bluetooth was only for handsfree. My sister has iphone 3gs and hers connects to all other idevices. Has anyone come across this problem and how did you resolve it.

Have checked all settings and done all trouble shooting.

Any ideas how to fix this?

What exactly are you trying to connect to? The bluetooth on the iPhone is indeed mostly for hands-free devices. You can't use it to copy files between phones or anything like that.

Trying to connect to the ipad 2, tried to use my iphone as the scrabble tile rack to play scrabble on the ipad 2, the other 2 people i was playing with can use there iphones as the tile rack. One is 3gs and one iphone4 mine seems to be the only one that does not work. Also they can connect to other iphones/ipads where as mine cant. I also cant connect to a bluetooth device that my friends iphone can.

Apple's implementation of BT is really hit and miss on iPhones and iPads. I have to really struggle to get them to even see each other, yet they seem to pick up every other nokia and blackberry for miles around, effortlessly.

Mine see's nothing, first time i tried it out was with my sisters nokia, so put it down to different phone when other sister said that it only works with other iphones, and mine doesn't even do that. Vodafone people in the shop are no help.

Well, you can't generally connect via Bluetooth like you can with other phones, but you should be able to connect automatically for the likes of games (the games should take care of most of it for you).

Have you tried switching Bluetooth on and off, or restarting the phone?
Have you tried any software resets?

If you look in Settings > General > About, there is an entry there for Bluetooth. It should show something like A1:B2:C3.. and so on for a little bit. Does that appear correct?

yep tried all that, checked settings, should my wi-fi address and my bluetooth be nearly the same eg wi-fi address 23:A1:B2:C3:Y4:08
    Bluetooth 23:A1:B2:C3:Y4:07

If not how do I fix this. Will try have a look at some one elses iphone that has working bluetooth.
