Redundancy looms in 3 weeks. Need a few suggestions on how to cope with the sudden boredom. Just got the first 6 seasons of 24 and was thinking of getting a dog. Any other ideas?

There's all sorts of things you could do!

Find a partner in crime and get up to hilarious and wacky adventures.

Put poison in the town's resevoir (but shh!)

    Start a wine club.

    Perform Satanic rituals.

    Take up crafts!

If you live in a town/village, see if they have a tidy towns group you could join.

Don't forget boxsets of The Wire, Oz, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sons of Anarchy.

Also, start working on your porn collection, you'll need plenty of variety.

Go to Penneys and buy some string vests. Work on growing a beer belly. If you're going to be a waster, might as well go the whole hog!

If you are going to look for another job then you wanna do at least one thing that you can stand over in an interview and say "while I wasn't working I was actively....."

Other than that the world's your oyster. There's the musical instrument route (could be frustrating), volunteering, running.....you get the picture.

I was off for a few months a few years ago....you think "I'm gonna read all those books I never had time for" - you don't. I did plenty of walking into town though....that gets old too :-)

On a serious note OP, you could learn a new language? I'm teaching myself Spanish, that's a great introduction to it, or there's other language options available.

Naturally I didn't pay, there's plenty of places online you'll get it.

spend some of you redundancy on gym membership. An investment to your health and sanity, it will give you something to get up and go out to.

Job search in the afternoon and relax in the evening

No, don't look for another job.

Jobs are normally very boring affairs. You're now free of the drudgery so you'd might as well enjoy your freedom.

Just don't bleed into the chips!

Stay positive too, redundancy has been made out to be worst than cancer the way the media goes on about it. It sucks I'd say, but something will turn up.

Agree very much with the learn a language/do a course advice. It's a good investment and language courses are generally superb in allowing you to meet cailini. Also the exercise/sport advice is obviously solid. If you join the local GAA side you might be able to network while getting exercise. Hillwalking clubs and gyms are good for meeting de burds. Either way, keep yourself physically active as that serotonin is essential to your mood.

Maybe the OP could set up a farm where he grows his own vegetables and prunes.

Could sell them at a farmers market or I think there is competitions for that kind of thing as well.

Either that or "get into" telly bingo....
