Saorview Launch Will Free up Bandwidth for Broadband.

I was just watching the news and Pat Rabitte just spoke of €180 million worth of bandwidth that will be available for broadband when it is freed up.

Does that mean that the parts of the spectrum terrestrial analog TV currently broadcasts through will be available to broadband providers?

Can someone explain to me how that would work?

I believe LTE (which can deliver speeds at 60/70Mbps) will not be possible until analogue is switched off.

The 180. Million is a stealth tax. The govt sell the bandwidth to the ISPs / TeleCos and they charge us twice or three times the amount to surf the net.

Why not just give it to them and oblige them to deliver connectivity for free / near to free Eircom mistake over Internet connectivity all over again
