It says, (requires 2x USB ports) are you using the two ports?

    long shot but....

are you using any extra usb devices that you weren't using on your old system.

When I used to use a usb hub (win xp) I had no end of trouble with devices not being recognised but when I got a mains powered hub I've had virtually no problems since.

Have you upgraded to Service Pack 1 on Windows 7? I had that problem before with my terabyte drive.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IE/windows7/learn-how-to-install-windows-7-service-pack-1-sp1

It did show up in disk management and once I assigned it a drive letter it appeared in my computer.

Since Service Pack 1 came out, I don't need to go into disk management anymore.

You say it's not in Disk Management? Is there any unidentified drive in there?

Your drive (if it's not broken) should appear in here without a drive letter, and it's capacity below it. You must right click it and click "Change drive letter and path". Once you pick a letterm Windows should pick it up then.

I assume the format of the drive is NTFS format and you didn't change it to Fat32. Depending on the files fat32 on large drives can take an age to load on windows 7.

Have you tried it on another computer or laptop. If it works on that a least you know the drive is ok. The drive could also be loose inside its enclosure.

I had same problem with a WD external drive. When I plugged into USB port on the front it wouldn't show but when I use a USB port on the rear of the PC it shows up.
Try a rear port and see if it shows up
