First time driving to Galway tomorrow and just wondering what would be the best time to leave Dublin at to avoid sitting in any traffic? Or at least keep it to a minimum. I can leave at anytime of the day but preferably in the morning. Thanks.

From driving to and from both cities in the past, both are equally bad depending on what time of week\day you set off and arrive despite Galway being a lot smaller city.

You should be ok leaving Dublin on a Saturday morning from anywhere for that matter!

You think Dublin is bad, but never try to arrive into Galway in the late afternoon\evening from the Dublin road direction no matter what day of the week, it will frustrate you sitting there for a half hour or so. As you are setting off in the morning, you should be ok arriving early afternoon and enjoy the new 'motorway' road between the 2 cities!

Leave Dublin at 3a.m. you'll have the roads to yourself.
