MBP takes aaaages to wake up

Yo. I've a 5 year-old MBP, 2GB RAM. Recently, I've noticed it doing a funny thing. Most times I wake the thing from sleep, the thing takes at least 5 minutes to fully wake back up. All I hear is the click-clicking of the RAM loading stuff up. In the meantime, I can't do anything with the computer. It becomes sluggish as hell.

I recently repaired a problem with the HD, I cleaned a lot of gunk off the thing using the usual OS X and freeware tools, very little is running in the background, and this even happens when I have hardly any programs open.

Recent major changes that happened around when this problem began was the installing of Daylite, a customer relationship management tool for small businesses.

I've scoured the net, but I just can't find any information on this problem

    What do you think?

Is it slow to startup or open applications as well?

Try uninstalling this Daylite software if you think that might be the cause. And I wouldn't recommend using maintenance tools to "clean" your system. They usually do more harm than good and people often have to do a clean install to undo the damage. What tools did you use?

And the click-click sound you are hearing isn't the RAM, it's the hard drive.

Well, then, one thing is the amount of time it seems to take to load up the sleep file after I wake it up. I would say it's noticable slower at booting up, but this is a more longer-term observation.

Is there a kind of virus in your computer? How about the use of RAM when your computer running? As No2 says you had better to choose a maintenance tools to "clean" your system.
I didn't use a blanket maintenance program - I used Monolingual to save space, specific things, from a guide I got on macrumors.com.

Monolingual is a very detractive app. There was a recent thread in which someone lost the use of their keyboard after using it. Have the sleep related problems only started since you used it?

had the same problem and it turned out to be the hd.
really sounds like it if its making noise + you have already repaired bad sectors. you’ll get one really cheap s/hand it most likely ide very easy to change.

I had thought about this alright. It didn't seem like anything else could really cause the slowness other than the drive getting old and dithery. On the other hand, I expect to be getting a new MBP from the states in the next month or so.

Would it make sense to run a diagnostic overnight to see if it brings up anything? Would it?
