    I'm dead meat.

Putting iOS 5 on an iPod touch for an 11-year old boy. Its all done now but the backup refuses to restore crashing the touch each and every time and throwing up a minus 1 error.

Any clues? I've tried every trick I know.

He's 11, just tell him some crap about how Apple don't allow you to do it because of some security problem.

Sure any apps that he paided for, can just be downloaded again...

I can't think of anything that causes it...

To add to that warning. I'd be wary of putting new versions of the iOS on the older devices. I did on our 2G iPod Touch, and its been flaky ever since, especially the Wifi. Which seems to be a common problem. Wait for others to try it before doing it. Also some of the older device might not have the processing power to give a good experience.

    iOS5 does not support IPT2G

It was a general point about all devices. Just because you can get an update, or a OS update, doesn't mean it will perform well on an older device.

culabula, is this your own computer you are doing this on or his? In other words, has this computer being used to successfully update other devices?

Mine, not his. And I have used this (MacBook) to update all my devices and those of others (significantly, an iPhone 4 last night).
