I realise that the ESB won't involve themselves in the nitty-gritty of domestic installarions, but what part of the ESB deals with dangerously defective electrical systems?

    Hi Victor,

ESB Networks deal with issues regarding the maintenance of the electricity network, including the meter in the property. However, this issue appears to be a problem with the wiring in the property. This would not be an ESB Networks issue. The list of scenarios where ESB Networks can intervene can be found here.

In this case the customer would need to contact an electrician immediately. We would also advise that customers ensure that they are fully accredited, which you can read more about here.

I hope this helps and any further questions please ask.

    Regards,
    Mark
