Anyone else notice the similarities between these two teams? ie both managers are very conservative, both pick players on name (reputation) rather than form, both have some success thought more failure. Is there something fundamentally wrong with our international system? Other than the managers? I mean I know its trivial but even down to their critics Hook hates DK and Dunphy hates trap... discuss

Seamus Coleman Our only young top class premiership proven talent can't make the team ahead of guys much worse at smaller clubs Kidney is not anywhere near as bad as that We are very conservative in rugby at same time Frankie Sheehan goin on about Simply right to beat Wales We kept it simple and they had a simple way to stop us Get low and take the legs At one stage Charteris just used his back as an obstacle just turned his back into legs of player tripping him up while someone else went high It's. insulting to think simply right is good enough at the highest level

Irish Rugby = Exciting to watch, sad to see us leave RWC11
Irish Soccer = Painful to watch, lucky to be in playoffs but we can do it

Irish Rugby has come a long way, we exited the world cup against Wales last week because they were simply better than us on the day, they were sharper and they got 2 tries from some poor defending on Irelands part. Sure Kidney has made some controversial decisions that anger the fans from different provinces who come out with some awfully biased waffle. I disagreed with some of his selections but who am I to disagree with a proven successful manager? My biggest disappointment was Trimble not getting his place in the team, the lad is an amazing player, hopefully not starting will not knock his confidence and he can cement his position in the team. I think there has been a very harsh over reaction from the bandwagon fans who heard we beat Australia and said wait a minute we can win this lets buy a jersey and learn the names, all before looking at the table and noting we still had to beat Russia and Italy to progress to the quarters. I was disgusted with some posts/faceache status updates/tweets etc when Wales beat us. I think we are at a very exciting point in Irish Rugby where we are faced with rebuilding some of the team, we need someone to try fill BOD's boots and he needs to be there to guide whoever this will be, Darcy will also be hard to replace, POC has a few years left but another tough man to replace. The future looks good.

Irish soccer has also come along, not a long way mind you as we are playing like Charlton liked us to play. We are simply boring, no other word for it. We only know one style of play and that is to sit back. It has worked however, Traps record shows he only has lost only 2 competitive games since taking over at the helm. I despise the man and his horrid idea of football. I know we have limited players but I really believe that with any group of players if you ask them to play football and believe that they can do it then they will at least give a performance. Watching Ireland being walked all over at home by a ten man Armenia side was a joke. As for selections, how Andrews even makes the bench I do not know, LOI players out there better than him. I think at goalkeeper we are blessed, defence is not bad either, midfield is our biggest issue we lack any creativity and Whelan and Andrews don't feel comfortable on the ball let alone want it. McGeady needs to stop and take a look at himself, he is no longer exciting and could never cross a ball. Duff is still our best winger by far and the years are running out for him. Up front we are fine, I would start Walters/Long or Best/Long imo with Cox fighting to get in there. Keane has lost his finishing although he is a good captain and brings a lot to the rest of the game, Doyle is out on his feet lately, looks tired. I think we will be in the Euro's but it will be nailbitingly frustrating just getting there. The future is positive.
