Business expenses.

Hi. I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. Last August, I was offered a position by an Irish company on one of their projects in Colombia. I had previously worked for this company from '07 until '10. When I accepted the offer, I was instructed to get various vaccinations in order for the visa process to begin. I also had to go to the Colombian embassy in London to present myself for interview and sign various documents. I paid all doctors fees' myself (consultation and 2 doses of vaccine,€120), malaria tablets (tablets for 4 months at €105 p/m), €25 for a solicitor to authenticate a copy of my qualification and another €20 for the Dept of Foreign Affairs to apostile stamp the aforementioned copy. Now, shortly before I was due to fly out, the company reneged on the offer for various reasons. However, I was told to send all my expenses to them so I could be reimbursed. I have emails stating as much. I did and received a mail from HR on the 30th of August saying they had received them. Then nothing despite me ringing them twice a week and mailing them a number of times. It got to the stage where they were point blank ignoring me. Then on the 30th of Sept, I received a mail saying that the expenses had been misplaced but were now found and that they had just been faxed to Colombia to be authorised. 2 weeks later and we are back at the ignoring stage. I'm starting to struggle financially so this money would get me out of a pickle.

What I am asking is, is there any legal course that could be taken to ensure speedy return of all monies owed. I was thinking small claims court but I presume business expenses are classed as debt which would make the small claims court idea redundant? Is there anything a solicitor could do for me. Any info anyone has would be appreciated. I know I might be out of order here but I figured I'd make a fool out of myself on the internent before walking into a solicitors' office and them laughing me back out the door!
