Costs in driving a van to Barcelona?

Hi all.
I will be driving a transit van down to barcelona in a few weeks time and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on costs involved in driving to there?
I was told that apart from the fuel and ferry costs, I should expect to pay a few hundred in road tolls
Can anyone verify this?
Also which is the preffered route to travel?
Any help greatly appriciated

You need to decide whether to go via the UK or not. Ferry to France breaks up the trip and saves a lot of driving. I've assumed a caravan instead of a van, so tolls and fuel will vary.

I was down thereabouts in the last month( got as far south) as Gerona. Diesel in France is about the same as here on motorways, and about 1.30 a litre in supermarket fuel stations

Diesel must have had a big tax rise in Spain, it's only about 1.27 a litre now. Was about 15c/l cheaper than French supermarket prices. I've a French tag so I'm not sure of the toll prices in France this year, I think it's about €75 from Nantes to the Spanish border in Catalonia( via Bordeaux,Tolouse & Perpignan)

Mappy.com (or .fr) has the car toll prices and possibly van prices too, if not asf.fr will have the info somewhere if you can figure the French out. It
takes about 12 hours to get to the border from Roscoff in a car, including breaks for coffee/toilet&food, it's probably another hour and a half to Barcelona again after this & Time getting about the city

Dont mean to be a killjoy , if you add victors costs to the likely ferry costs say 175,(irish sea) 120 return on the Channel and 175 Irish sea, total is about 1,000 euro, nevermind food and accomodation.

If you are going with something or going for something, can it be built on a few pallets. if so the you could get the hauled for about 200/250 euro per pallet

If you do go there are super little hotels every fifty miles or so usually off at junctions. 35 to 40 euro gets you a room for three people.

I have a very load to bring, so I think it wouldnt work out to cheap to pallet it.

Transits eat diesel.A transit is nowhere near as comfortable for a long trip as a car.
Don't underestimate how draining the trip will be and sleep deprivation shouldn't be forgotten either.
You'd probably be better going direct to France and driving down than land-bridging through UK.
Did a trip to south west of Germany early this year in high lwb transit and I won't be doing it again in a hurry.

You can get a return ticket on a ferry to Santandar in Spain from England for £450 with sleeping cabins. It will save you fuel costs and your sanity .

Roslare to Cherbourg on the ferry is running for about 130 euro each way including cabins, dirt cheap this time of year. Take about 12 hours or so to drive to Barcelona from there.
