    Hi Clanard,

    I had my eyes done in the Wellington clinic yesterday. Dr Richard Corkin did the operation and he was great. Himself and the nurses talk to you throughout the operation, which is really good. The operation itself is painfree and nowhere near as disgusting as you might imagine. After the op you sit in a darkened room for 30 mins, the nurse does a quick check and then you're good to go. My eyes starting to sting and water on the way home (a bit like having shampoo in your eye). I took one of the sleeping tablets provided by the clinic when I got home and woke up good as new, no pain or stinging. I just lay on the sofa with my eyes closed for the rest of the evening.

    I went for my checkup this morning, flaps have fully sealed and I was able to read one line better than 20:20 in both eyes.

    So overall pretty good results so far, just have to see how things go over the next few weeks.

    Hi LuLou,

    Just a quick question, hoping to get mine done in the Wellington (if I'm eligible)

    I've heard that you need to leave your contacts out for a certain time period before getting tested / before getting the procedure done. if this is true, how long did you have to leave them out for?

    Thanks a mill

    Hi all,

    Firstly Lil' Smiler, I wasn't wearing contacts when I got my eyes done in the Wellington last month but they did inform me that if I had been wearing them I would have to leave them out for at least a week beforehand. This, however, is the answer according to their site;

    "Soft contact lens wearers are required to have their lenses out for one day prior to their laser consultation and one week before treatment. Hard or RGP contact lens wearers are required to have their lenses out for one week before the consultation and one month per decade of wear before surgery."

    Clanard, I agree with mostly everything Lulou said. I did find however that the surgery itself was a bit uncomfortable, not painful, just uncomfortable. They didn't provide me with sleeping pills or anything similar either but they did recommend painkillers which did the job. I'm 3 weeks on now and everything considered, I would highly recommend it and haven't been able to stop talking about it to everyone I know! :)

    The people at Wellington were great and if you do decide to go with them or Optical Express at all, I have €150 off vouchers that I've just received to give away to anyone who wants them so if you're interested pm me and I'll send one out to you asap! That goes for anyone considering Optical Express who reads this. :)

    Thanks so much! I don't know how I didn't see that on their site, been trying to get an answer for ages! Thank you :)
