I hate it with a passion. We're doing nothing fun and every day I just don't want to be there. Anyone else like this?

I was in the same position. It's more up to you as to what you get out of it.
Like work experience? Start organising that. Take up sport or focus on a hobby....and honestly try keep tur languages up for 5th year.

Yeah we're doing our work experience the week after next and I honestly can't wait because I'll actually be spending a week doing something I like rather than sitting in a classroom doing nothing.
In our school 90% of the things they organise for us to do cost a lot of money. I know that you can't get everything for free but a lot of things are really expensive and it's hard to pay for everything and then our teachers give out to us for not 'trying new things because this is the year for it'.
    I hate TY.
I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

4th is just a stupid waste of a year.

Yeh the money can be a strain, but I'll tell you that I enjoyed 4th year and if I had the chance to repeat it I would have learnt an instrument, or taken up a new sport or hobby. It should have been an excellent year for self improvement for me but I feel as if I wasted it. Don't be saying that when you finish 4th year!

If you can get a job and the school can guarantee you a place when you come back next year, I'd go work. I should have done that and you would be able to build a fund for the first year of college.

Or even better find a job say in France, if you do french, come back fluent. Would be a bit tricky though:D

When you go into 5th year you're going to be regretting saying you hated TY. I'm in 5th year now and it's a total pain in the arse. I'd kill to be back in TY.

    I love it.
You do jack sh*t, and get to go out way more (if you like that, gets boring after a bit).

Ooh, and you can play as much Battlefield 3 as you like. Awesome.

    This.

You get pretty much no homework for the entire year too.

When I did TY (4 or so years ago I think) I simply copied all of the TG homework for the entire year and got away with it scot free.

You couldn't get away with that in any other year.

Just enjoy it while you can.

If you're looking for something to do why don't you get started on the LC course with a few subjects? Seems a bit early but you'd be very thankful of an extra year under your belt when others are sweating it to get everything covered.

We actually start the Leaving Cert courses in all our subjects in TY. I think it's a good thing - we have an extra year to cover the course and we aren't bored out of our minds doing nothing in school everyday.

Er, is that allowed? : /

I don't know? TY is compulsory in my school, so people won't be at different stages at the start of 5th year from skipping TY and material won't have to be repeated.

We don't do any serious work. We do start working on the Leaving Cert courses, but we work through them at a relaxing pace.

    Ah, if it's compulsory I think it's ok :D

I know! As a teambuilding activity, get everyone in your TY to play with you on Battlefield 3!

Schools aren't really supposed to start LC courses afaik, but I'd imagine they're mainly doing it so they have something to teach!

Our teachers are taking TY as seriously as last year :L
And they're still being strict on coming to school everyday even though half our year is nearly gone every day.
I mean even this year I'll say to my dad that I don't want to go to school tomorrow and he's just like 'ok, no problem.' Lol I never got that even in 1st or 2nd year :L

I disliked large parts of TY due to the complete lack of structure but it is too late to move on to 5th year. At this stage the best thing you can do is fill as much of your time as possible. Get involved in every activity you can afford, fill your time, and try to enjoy it, or the time will seem to pass even slower. I'm sorry to have say this but you're going to have to stick it out as well as you can.

TY is grand, finding the LC curriculum much more difficult then the JC stuff though!

They are allowed start 10% of the LC courses, but this is a loose rule. Though that 10% is well worth covering. And I'd advise work on your language!!
