When does transition end?

I have a question for all the transgendered people on the board and it is simply this: when does transition end?

I have a sister who is transgendered. She has been living full-time as a woman for about two years now and is successfully building a life for herself in her new identity. Recently I saw a post from her on a forum where many but not necessarily all of the people reading are aware that she was not always identified as a woman; and in that post she described herself as a trans woman. I got me wondering at what point is transition completed.

Do any of you have any experience or anecdotes you can share about when you decided to identify simply as a man or woman and not a trans man or trans woman? ... or is it naive of me to think that ever happens?

Very interesting question. I've been full-time for over a year now. Inside of myself, I identify as a woman. However, there are times and contexts in which I identify myself to others as a trans woman. For instance, at the recent TENI AGM, or at the Dublin trans support group, or in certain social situations, or when I was talking a Government agency about an issue I'm having in which my transgender status was relevant.

I was in a pub on Monday night with a bunch of people - all of whom I hardly know and some of whom I was meeting for the first time. I reckon they've figured me out. One of the people that I was meeting for the first time used male pronouns with me, though none of the others who heard him do it followed suit, and no-one (including me) said anything about it. If someone were to raise the issue, I can't see myself denying that I'm trans, though I'd of course rather that it didn't happen.
