Is there anyone with Sky's Basic Entertainment package (€25 one) who can tell me what documentary channels are included, if any?
Thinking if getting it in soon but not sure to go for basic or entertainment extra.......

Click on the arrows halfway down the page to scroll through the available channels.

    Hi DivaGirl....

Personally I'd go for the extra pack, for the €33 a month.

We done it,,and to have all the documentary channels is great..Lots of fab programmes on them.

I was shown that before, but was also told by the sky rep that they have "many more channels available in this package", but he couldnt tell me what they were!!
So i was wondering if someone with this package could check the documentary option and see whats there!

You won't get Discovery,National Geographic,History etc. in the basic pack. The extra channels included now are based on DIY,cooking etc.The list I linked to shows the available channels in the basic pack.

Best to pay the extra few euro a month and get the Entertainment Extra pack.

I think you might get current on the basic, is channel 183. Can be excellent on occassion. Finished showing some docs last month under a seies called 50 documentaries to see before you die

Clever SKY have sneakily in effect introduced a price increase with their now 2 packs. Top one gone to €33, and new customers who before could CHOOSE to have e.g. documentary channels and still pay around €22 now cant even include them in the €25 pack, but have to pay the full €33. A €10 price hike in that particular situation......and we're all accepting it and smiling and saying..."oh the extra pack is well worth the €33"....

    We're all mugs, me included!

If one went for free to air and saor view, are there any documentary channels like Discovery, Nat Geographic etc? Thats the only think keeping me with Sky.

Most people are on a price freeze so wont be paying €33 for another year or so.

I asked the very same question a few weeks ago for the very same reason i.e. to get rid of Sky but the negative answer keeps me paying the nearly €50 (HD) a month .However I'm slowly building up to the great day when I'm finally weaned off NAT Geog, History, Discovery Ch. etc as BBCHD,BBC1HD and even CH4 HD and ITV1HD have quite a good no. of these type of programmes now.

Free ones, like CBBC, CBeebies, PopGirl, Kix, TinyPop and probably a few others.

You'd need to move up to Entertainment Extra to avail of Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, etc.

Yep, you can get all the ITV 1,2,3,4 channels on other channels, even with no package at all. You get CITV on that too. And Channel 5, 5 USA 5*

Aragh sound! not too bad, the child will have to do without Nick jr if that's the only reason for me to upgrade. Cheers :D

That channel is shut down and it was never on the basic package anyway.
