Guitar/computer interface recommendations?

Hey, so I am in the process of getting a new laptop and want to pick up a guitar->computer interface thing while I'm at it.

Eh, one of these type of yokes http://line6.com/podstudiogx/. As you may be able to tell I have no real clue about this stuff so was just wondering if people could make a couple of recommendations for good ones or good alternatives to interfaces (if there are any?).

Also, does the laptop I buy have to have anything in particular to use this type of stuff?

The laptop I'm going to get will be either this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_IdeaPad_Z570_1078650.html
    or this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5742G_1070068.html

Do I have to get anything other than the interface? Is there other software or anything you would recommend I buy to get the best out of the whole guitar -> computer thing?

    Cheers for the help.

What do you want to use it for? Recording or messing around with amp sims? If you want it for recording I'd go with something other than the Line 6 stuff, you can pick up some pretty nice little interfaces that have mic inputs as well as a DI so you can lay down vocals or mic up other instruments. For messing around with guitar that should be fine though.
The only requirements for the laptop really are USB, it'd be handy to have firewire aswell if you decide you want to get into more serious recording as that's what most interfaces with more inputs use.
I've never really bothered using guitar rig or revalver other than the demos because there are loads of free amp sim Vsts that do a pretty good job.
