Im just curious as im new to exploring satellites beyond the Astra freesat lineup, have you ever came across any oddities while scanning a satellite anything unusual or strange?

Strangest I ever accidentally stumbled upon was actually on some 28.2E or 28.5E feed, IIRC.

There were some 3 or 4 different channels on the transponder set up in the same operating room where a surgeon was doing some eye surgery, I think it was lens replacement for cataracts. One channel was showing a close up of the eye, some the other channels had split screens (reminded me of some sequences of The Andromeda Strain, if you've ever seen that), IIRC with a basic shot of the surgery room, and other shots watching monitors. The surgeon was giving a running commentary, so I figured it was being beamed about the UK for medical students.

That is quite strange indeed, interesting find though! It was hardly anything to do with that C4 programme where they did an autopsy live? Probably not, youre explanation is probably what it was

Nothing to do with the C4 programme. After having a quick look at sat-benelux.nl, Id be fairly certain that it was this entry:

Is there any way to get RTÉ on those, seeing as it's on freeview now?

no. its not on freeview !

it will be available via satellite (not freesat) in the future. see the thread about saorsat at the top of the page.

There is plenty of surgery going on if you're into that sort of thing.

And lots more strange things like a woman in full burqa doing a cookery programme on Saudi TV. This thread might be more appropriate on the Foreign Satellite forum.
