well depends have you had any technical issues with Sky that you reported to them where they needed to send out a technician if you had more then 3 issues where a tech called out then contract is null and void if not you may have to pay some kind of fee other then that your stuck with them for next 6 months.

Can I ask why you want out

Just cancel your Direct Debit in the bank, Simple..

Purchasing a combo box campo. By cancelling dd it doesn't remove the contractual obligations charlemont

Can you actually cancel a direct debit? Don't think you can.

Yes you can by instructing your bank. It doesn't make the contractual liability to Sky go away.

This is very bad advice for anyone direct debit is a method of payment nothing else if you cancel your direct debit Sky will continue to bill you until eventually they cut you off and then you start dealing with a collection agency so for anyone thinking I will cancel my direct debit and and that will stop everything please think again

Agreed Campo, I guess bottom line here is stay with Sky for the year or leave and pay the balance on the remaining months.

Call Sky and ask to be put onto the lowest possible priced package. At least then you wont be paying more than you want to.

Sensible advice, the lowest package is €25 per month which isn't too bad.

As said before DON'T cancel the direct debit, this can lead to problems if credit checks are carried out on you in future.
You're nearly half way through your contract so just wait out the rest of it and then cancel. No point paying off the remainder now and cancelling immediately either-you might as well get something for your money.

Do you have any mates that fancy getting in Sky, OP?

This is probably rather wacky and *cough* possibly legally questionable, but you could always hand over your card/digibox to them, leave your direct debit as is and your mate can re-imburse YOU for the pleasure of having sky.

Or change the direct debit details with Sky to the mates bank account number. The Sky account remains in the op's name but his mate pays for it.;)
