Just heard on Sky Sports News that the Armenian FA are protesting decisions made by the referee in Tuesdays game. Don't know if they want a replay or just the goalkeeper's red card reversed.
I'll post a link when I find one.

I'd expect it to be after our embarrassing protests two years ago

has history thought them nothing ...it will only make their John Delaney equivalent look (more) like a tool.

cant change history !! and the game is history now.

(wonder were they planning on this BEFORE we drew Estonia?)

If they kick up enough fuss they could get a few draws rigged in their favour.

Heard rumours that a load of Armenians are going to protest outside the Irish embassy in Armenia.

Can't be true, no one is that thick surely.

Hah, Replay? Sure what kind of a gobshite would look for a replay?

Berezovsky was dismissed for handball outside his area but TV replays clearly showed he chested the ball clear

The replays I saw he clearly handled it.

I'd laugh if they actually got the game overturned. :D

Its only an official protest when a Facebook page has been setup.

More power to them, if people don't protest things like this then we'll never get any further towards TMOs... that decision would've been so easy with a 10 second reel of footage to show Cox's handball... bing-bang-bosh... game continues unabated...

Sure give them the replay if they want it! We're better than them so can beat them again!

did you watch the game ?? even with 10 men against 11 they were playing us off the park.

TV replays also showed the referee allowed play to continue after it appeared Ireland striker Simon Cox did handle the ball moments before Berezovsky was wrongly adjudged to have done so

Eh...he was correctly adjudged to have done so.

48 hours later we still debate whether either both or none were handballs and whether they were deliberate or not.
But you reckon the TMO could nail it in 10 seconds?

Are they also going to ask to get Cox's goal and Hunt's peno allowed also??

Feel exactly the same to be honest.

Read the article. They don't want a replay, this is what they want...
FFA chief Ruben Airapetyan told reporters the Armenians want European soccer's governing body to cancel Berezovsky's red card rather than punish the referee.

Nothing about a replay is even mentioned in the article.

They'd be doing well to find an Irish embassy in Armenia...

    Isn't it in Russia

Believe it or not- last time I was in that direction I was advised that the Irish Embassy in Sofia handles relations about Armenia. Much closer I suppose.

    RE: the protest.

Sure it was their OG that killed them really! Ya can't complain about an OG!

The ref had a pretty shocking game in my opinion. But in fairness the keeper jumped up with his hands in the air to block the ball. He has no right to complain just because the ball didn't hit him. At the speed it happened everyone would assume it was a handball.

And anyway it was just our payback for Henry's handball that wasn't.

you can look at replays and even on that, its not too clear, as long as no video technology is used, these things are going to happen! When your unsure and there are 45,000 odd people roaring and screaming for a handball, and you might be whatever numbers of metres away, its not exactly easy. The Henry situation was totally different, that was out and out cheating, the red card was POSSIBLY a wrong call by the referee...

I think that the goalie was extremely silly to come out of the box with his arms raised up in the air like that. It was a panic moment for him and not one he'll look back on with any sort of fondness. I don't know what the rules are for a goalie coming out of his area with this arms raised but I know that it would be a red flag to a referee symbolizing intent to use them. If you look at the replay, the raising of arms was totally unnecessary as the ball was never going to clear the goalie anyway. Silly mistake, very tough call for the ref. Even the slo mo replay is not so conclusive.

Did Cox handle the ball? Well it definitely touched his arm coming down. Was it deliberate? It did present a slight advantage but it's hard to know what was happening in his mind in that instant. His back was to the ref at the time so he had that working in his favour. The Armenian players did not seem to protest it too much. Again, a lack of composure on their part. More experienced teams would have been all over that.

On a lighter note, the initial Armenian reaction to Ireland's draw on Xtratime was "Goddammit! Had we beaten Ireland, we would have been playing Estonia! Eh, actually, wait, no we wouldn't......"

just after watching the henry handball again, what a bloody cheat and disgrace, he didnt just handle it. he toally guided the ball with his hand, he then runs off celebrating, knowing what he has just done / gotten away with! Video reffing should be introduced for goals, penalties and sendings off. How much time is wasted in trying to get the game going again anyway, atleast with video result would be conclusive...

Thierry Henry is a cheat. The Armenians are appealing the red card only in fairness.

It's only a matter of time before System of a Down get involved in the protest.

While Blatter is there nothing will happen. He has a great job. Paid for doing nothing.
