    Heya,

How are ye? I am pondering with the idea of going to Argentina on the 6month work and travel visa. Just wondering does anyone on here have any experience of working in Argentina. I have heard great reports on travelling around there and South America. If you have any information on it I would love for you to share it with me.

I have also started to learn Spanish, so I hope to have at least the basics before I get down there.

Any tips or advise would be much appreciated.

    Cheers :)

A wonderful country incredibly big and beautiful.Buenos Aires is a great city with something for everyone. Its enormous and a bit chaotic but great fun.But take care its a big city with the dangers that entails but compared to Los Angeles and New York its safer downtown.Palermo,Belgrano and Recoleta are nice areas nice parts.Must sees outside BA is Iguazu truly wonderful makes Niagra look tiny.Perito Moreno glaciar down south is truly spectacular.
The second city Cordoba is surrounded by wonderful countryside and is very very nice.Mendoza is the wine city with the Andes and 300 days of sunshine.
there are national parks all over the country which are wonderfully managed.Internal air flights are good and the long distance bus service amazeing.
Outside of Buenos Aires you absolutely need good Spanish.Remember Argentinas Spanish is about as near to the peninsular variety as our English is to Australias.
Also there is a very large Irish community who could help on the job front.
See The Southern Cross newspaper of the community and the Buenos Aires Herald a small English language daily.

    Hello!

I was in Argentina for almost a year on the 6 month working visa.

Check out this thread that i replied to ages ago it's comparing Chile and Argentina but its got a lot of the info i would give to you: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=66390432

So if you have any specific questions then ask me!

My main question to you would be what do you plan to do there?

Thank you both for your help, its much appreciated.

I am currently in Canada and going to go down to south america after here, i plan on flying into columbia, travel my way down towards argentina and then settle there for a few months. I've got no dates or deadlines to work by so just going to take it as it comes. at the moment i would be hoping to get work in a hostel or something similar, it's what i have been doing with the last 18 months, so if ye know of anyone running a hostel in argentina that would be great.

I didn't realise there was an irish community there (i should have guessed)

i'm sure closer to the dates i will be seeking more advise,

i'll have a read of that link any i'll get on to ya if i have any more questions.

    thanks again :)
