Alan Brogan for me in the main one. James McCarthy had a great season but a bit of a surprise inclusion in the young POTY for me.

I'd say Darren O'Sullivan had the better year, but Brogan will probably get it.

Alan Brogan was the best footballer this year, his opening 2 points in the All-Ireland final confirmed him as footballer of the year.

Anything else is just a sympathy vote for O'Sullivan.

I think it's a bit much that Cluxton was nominated for footballer of the year.

Would say Brogan and O'Connor for the football.

Fennelly and Rushe already have the hurling awards won!

Surprised Karl Lacey didn't even get nominated.

Was thinking the exact same, must say I didnt really get to see any Lory Meagher or Nicky Rackard this year but for all the other categories they seemed to have named the winner as the first nomination.

Would be very surprised to see Cluxton get it. Fair enough getting nominated but a keeper getting that award is a bit much.
Agree with above in that Lacey should have at least gotten a nomination. Thought he was phenomenol all year round, an absolute machine. Not sure why O' Sullivan was nominated, had two very good games iirc (Cork and Limerick games), wasn't even Kerry's best player imo.
That leaves Alan Brogan to scoop the award, reckon he's odds on favourite with the bookies.

Cillian O' Connor for the YPOTY, was a revelation this year and didn't have one poor game. Stepped up to the plate too for the free-taking responsibilities and was flawless.

He was Kerry best player in the final! Was also Kerry's best player in the league he should be there.

How would it be a sympathy vote? Why was Alan Brogan so much better then O'Sullivan?

Its the players who pick the winner this year though. All the members of the GPA get a vote a good idea how ever someone whos not a member of the GPA wont get a vote would be better if very player got a vote

Brogan was outstanding in Leinster winning 2 MOTM, he had an excellent quaters against Tyrone, MOTM again and a very good final. He is easily the FOTY

Are you saying that a goalkeeper's contribution is not as valuable as a forward's.
