If you was cut off, you still can appeal.
To get JSA you have to make yourself available for work and look for work. Going to college means you are unavailable for work. Means you do not qualify.
Ask the SW about BTEA- might work out that way.

thanks very much for your reply. I understand that I will not be eligible for jsa,but am so afraid that I will not get btea either.can you get it even if you're not starting the course from scratch?do you not have to be on IB for two years?if I don't get it ill have to leave college-which is a very distressing thought!

I do not know enough about BTEA- that is why I say "ask SW".
If you google, you will find plenty of infos.
You have to appeal straight ahead. I think you have only 4 weeks or so to do that from the date on the letter they send you telling about your refusal.
Loads of infos here in the google if you look for social welfare appeal, medical assessment, illness benefit.
The process can last up to two years.
In the meantime you have to sign on for JA- but you do not have to look for work. It is just done out of administrative purposes to get you a payment until the case is decided.
If you are reinstated you will have no time left on IB anymore- it is only granted for 2 years. You have to change over to DA then. More hazzle on the way there.
Best of luck- and nerves. You need both.
