iPhone 4 "SIM not ready" after attempt to update to iOS5

I posted this in the main iOS5 updating thread but thought I'd create my own thread to separate the issue.

Basically I tried doing the update to iOS5 last night and was getting the 3200 error. After it looked like I finally got the update, the phone seemed to stop recognising the SIM. Now the phone is sitting there saying "SIM not ready" and "Please re-insert your SIM, or visit your carrier store to receive a replacement SIM card".

The SIM is O2 and I have another O2 phone beside it which is on full bars so I know it shouldn't be a problem with the network.

The phone was fine last night until the update started.

    Any ideas?
