If you're a noob and can't display those pesky files like .avi or or them mega sized .mkv files?....look no further!

Here are two highly recomended and widely used programs that will playback virtually anything you throw at it!

^ i personally use that Shark pack, but another widely used program is K-Lite...a proven track record: http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

    :)

K-Lite is the best one I've used. Always works, never had any reason to look for anything else.

In before the flood of VLC recommendations, followed by the VLC +1's.

I personally can't stand it and have never used it.

Media Player Classic: Home Cinema ftw

VLC and then K-Lite if VLC doesn't like the format (has trouble playing mkvs cos i can't be arsed to update it)

There's also CCCP though i've never used it.

VLC and MPC with K-Lite. Can't go wrong with both of these.

MKV2VOB is a great program to convert mkv to mpeg so they're playable on a PS3. Only takes like 60 seconds to convert a file too!

Also VLC until the day I die
