Okay basically I'm starting this thread to complain about the lack of innovation in the confectionary/cereal/yogurts/taytos anymore. I remember when I was young there used to be a new cereal every couple of weeks, usually to do with some film or something. I remember having pokemon cereal which was basically a lucky charms knock off. Now we never get new cereals.

I find the same with sweets, taytos, yougurts, it's all just the same old, same old. Never anything new to try out. Sweets were just so much better when I was a kid, or atleast that's the way it seems to me.

There are definitely new yoghurts. Some greek ones with pear and stuff and some Yoo or Moo ones with a red label. Feels like every time I go to my stupid local supermarket I yet again can't find the one I actually like cos some new one is on promotion and all over the shelves!

Yup, just had a ltd ed Muller a while ago,,,mississippi mud pie flavour. Lovely.
...and those new walkers crips flavours suggested by customers were all nice (except for chilli n chocolate.

a recession/downturn probably isn't the best time to be launching new niche products; customers right now are buying basics and things they're familiar with in the main.

They dont need new ****. They need to start selling stuff that already exists elsewhere. Mike & Ikes, Nerds, Butterfingers, Lucky Charms. The list goes on...

Have only ever tasted nerds and lucky charms. Sure I would settle for some of the American stuff, they have never let me down before. Peanutbutter cups are basically the most amazing thing I have ever tasted, can't really seem to get them here that often though..,

Place on Temple Bar called Candy Lab. They do loads of the American sweets.
I'd settle for some of the more exotic M&Ms brands, coconut, hazelnut, etc.

Sounds wonderful, however I am rarely in that part of the country. Thanks though, will check it out if I ever am.

You're not down with the kids anymore OP! There's a new cereal/yoghurt/sweet every week to be honest! I heard on Dragon's Den earlier the children's toy industry is like the fashion industry.....I'd have to say the same thing about sweets and cereals! There's a new one every minute!

What? But I'm only 20, and have a serious sweet tooth so I am always on the look out for something new to try.

Any kid thick enough to try eat one probably deserved it.

Besides, it gave a huge return. The cereal I got as a kid was wholly dependent on the toy offerings.

Blame the scumbags that have a problem with kids getting their hands on sweets.

    Also called dentists/doctor/nanny state/etc...

I even remember when 'prizes' in cereals were still called 'toys'.

You have to improvise man. Take a packet of Skittles, mix them through a block of vanilla ice cream, stir in some seven up and then pour a toffee yogurt over the top and break a Flake over everything.

    I call it a Skicetofflake Fizz(TM).
