So Im doing my junior cert this year but I do a sport which takes up lots of time. Everyday from when I leave school until 7 o'clock I train. By the time I start my homework its 7:30. Also on the weekends I train alot. How can I do all my homework and study as well? Anybody have any experience like this and know how to help? Any advice would be much appreciated :D

Make yourself a timetable. Make sure you have a homework period, your training and matches, some time with your friends, dinner, time to watch some TV or Music etc... EVERYTHING!!! And stick to it... make sure to also have a regular sleeping pattern..!! :) Stick to this and you'll be going well... Don't forget toadd in the weekends!! ;)

Don't let the JC year take over your life, I know that you won't believe me when I say this because I didn't when people said it to me, but the JC is a lot easier than you think, you'll do fine and also, the two weeks are brilliant craic! :D When we were in TY we did a play, and in the 2 weeks approaching it we used to rehearse in the community centre and the hour long breaks reminded us of the 2 hour breaks in the JC and we all got nostalgic, so trust me, it's not a big deal and it's nothing to get too stressed over. I know that this isn't answering your question but just try to enjoy yourself as much as possible before you hit LC, now THIS year is torture! :pac:

The main piece of advice I could give a JC student is to work well while in class.

You do six hours per day in school, and if you use that time wisely, you can keep playing sport/enjoy doing other things. Many people fail to utilize this time properly, and if you do use it properly, you can make more free time for yourself!

Even with your sport you'll still be able to get an hour or so done in the evenings, and if you've worked well in school, you'll stay well on top of things.

    Listen in class.
Ask questions if you do not understand something.
    Do your homework well.

That's really it for the JC, unless you have reading or comprehension difficulties.

The best way to study for the Junior Cert is to work hard in class, and do your homework. At this stage in the year, you shouldn't worry too much about sitting down and actually studying (unless you're unfortunate enough to have Christmas exams too!). Remember that in most of your subjects you're not even finished the course yet - focus on learning 3rd Year material properly so it's easier to study when you come back to revise!

Seriously though, don't get bogged down too much with study for the JC! I didn't start sitting down to "revise" for the JC until the Christmas holidays (for the mocks) - before then it was mostly just moving along with homework. And I kept time to relax, play sport, watch TV and such...and I got a really good JC to boot :3

    RELAX.

Concentrate on your sport once you are doing your classwork and homework well.

Throw in an hour or two here and there with revising things you find difficult but I wouldn't get too worried about it.

At this stage, just spend the hour to an hour and a half homework you have everynight. It sfairly early for serious study, and way to early to be studying on weekdays if you have that much time taken up already

I'd agree 100% with this - way to early for any serious study, unless you didn't do anything for the first two years!
