Tiny white pimple on gum

I have a tiny white pimple on my gum which comes and goes. It never gets big - not as small as a pinpoint but not as big as say a grain of rice. I have no pain and no sensitivity. Is it possibly an abscess? As I say it comes and goes and when I pop it there is no pus. IF it is an abscess which tooth is it likely to be that has the problem - is it the one directly above the pimple or can it be any tooth in the mouth.

Google only tells me it's an abscess but with the absence of pain\sensitivity I wonder could it be something else.

    Thanks.

Possibly a draining sinus related to a dead tooth, most likely the tooth root exactly at the site of the pimple but some sinuses can tract forward or back...

A dead tooth will likely have a large cavity or decay or v large filling or a history of trauma...

If a sinus is draining, the tooth may be slightly mobile or may be slightly tender to tap on but not always. As the sinus is draining- the pus does not get a change to well up and cause pain.... Just cos you can't see pus doesn't mean its not there, just might be a small amount....

If closer to the gum margin and you have some gum disease- it may be from a gum disease type infection but far less likely

It may also be a few other less likely things...

Best to see a dentist, check the vitality of teeth in that region and get an x-ray.

    Good luck,
    OS

Thanks for that. I am going to go tomorrow. I hate not knowing. I don't have gum disease and my teeth are in good condition. I did have a root canal done about 6 months ago - it was around this time that I started to notice the spot. Could that have anything to do with it? The root canal is not in the area where this pimple is appearing.

    Thanks for the advice.

It could be a failed root canal but only really if the root canal treated tooth is within one tooth or so of the area....

Let us know how you get on tomorrow,

Well am back none the wiser. She couldn't find anything wrong but she did say she could feel where it was even though it's not there at the moment. She x-rayed the teeth around the area but all clear. It could be a trauma to the gum as it is quite thin where the pimple appears. I have to take it easier brushing and if it gets any bigger or painful to go straight back to her.

Just to update this. Was back at hygienist today and not good news. Have an abscess on my lower eye tooth so another root canal is on the cards. Not happy.
