Hi guys i only recently got my first DSLR and iv been loving it. As with most things, i got talking to friends and family about my new hobby and people started saying "i know such and such who is selling a camera". Anyways a guy from work is selling a camera and it comes with three lenses and filters ect. What i want to know is whether the lenses will fit my 600d.

The camera he is selling a canon 1000f, which is very old but it says online thats its got a EF mount. My 600d has an EF-S mount. Does this mean the lens wont work on it?

Is there any adapters i could get to mount the EF lenses to my camera.

The lenses he is selling are a 35-80mm USM, 75-300mm and a Sigma 24-70mm

    Cheers for any advice

Lenses compatible with the Canon 1000D will be compatible with the 600D also.

EF and EF-S lenses all work on both models.

but he is selling the 1000f kit. I'm not a canon user, but I assume this is the older 35mm film kit????

    Sorry, you're right.

Either way the EF lenses will still work with your 600D.

The camera isn't worth an awful lot..who wants a film camera these days, I would have a look on Ebay to compare the price of these lenses

The camera can be picked up for about 20 quid.

the lenses should hold their value a little more, but i;d be checking what they are before paying out tbh.

My advice for what its worth..... ask him will he let you test the lens with your camera, take some shots and see what you think.

The T5 gets boring after awhile if you enjoy using a viewfinder :p

Will autofocus work with these lenses on a DSLR body?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

Should do, once it has EF bayonet.

If the EF mount lenses are Canon made models then all will be fine. Some of the older 3rd party lenses (Sigma, Tamron etc) may not work correctly with modern Canon DSLRs. Test before you buy!

I bought them in the end, 3 lenses, one 1000f body, camera bag and tripod plus some filters for 200. Not too bad.
