    Hi,

I'm looking for an oak mantle [2000x200x100mm], would a kiln dried piece be suitable or should i only look for a salvaged beam?

I'm worried that the kiln dried piece will warp and crack over a stove!

    Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Try a sawmill lad. Just make sure the timber is well seasoned and sealed and varnished up. Timber wudnt craic like. If its well seasoned i imagine yal be grand.
