Best DTT-SAT Combo box with PVR?

    Am looking for a combo box that will do Saorview and Freesat for a friend who has gotten rid of Sky and wants to go totally FTA but wants the PVR facility.

    I myself have Technomate 6900HD and it is not something I use very often and found it quite a bit techy and my friend having seen it and worked it would like something a bit easier to use if possible.

    Ideally the box should have a satellite twin-tuner eg. record BBCHD whilst watching ITV or watching RTE1 whilst recording TV3 so I suppose it would need a DVB-T twin tuner also because with my own Technomate 6900HD you can only record what you are watching and I couldn't for eg. record RTE1 on DVB-T and watch a satellite DVB-S channel.

    What I am looking for is something that is as close to the Sky+ functionality as possible? Presumably most boxes use external hard drives but if there are any with inbuilt hard-drives then even better.

    Cheapest option \/

    More expensive option. Twin Tuner Sat Receiver

    You can get one of these and have dtt on it too though.

    You can also stick a spare sata hdd into it and you have your very own DIY PVR.
    It's probably more suited to a tech-head, hobbyist though TBH. :cool:

    So you want a twin SAT, Twin DTT, with built-in HDD receiver?

    I cannot recall such a beast being mentioned in any post I read ....

    hehe, I must be talking to myself, lol. :P

    The VuDuo I mentioned would probably come under said banner
    ====== \
    Twin Sat Tuner to begin with
    Has an internal connection for a hard drive
    Has 2 USB ports (Stick 2 USB DVB-T sticks in the back of it)
    ====== /

    Ok, so it's somewhat of a techy/hobbyist/DIY option but still fits the bill for the most part. :cool:

    :D I was admittedly concentrating on built-in tuners :D
    to keep things as simple as possible ...... but if that one is as good as it appears then a dual tuner USB stick and HDD might be the only extras that are required.

    :o

    .

    I am not sure if the combo boxes are able to tune in BBC HD at the moment. I have the Edision Argus 2 in 1 mini and am very happy with it. However, in recent months BBC HD and BBC 1 HD are unavailable on it while ITV1 and CH4 HD are both still available.

    My edision has 1 satellite tuner but i think there is an option with 2 tuners.
