I have a thread over on Vodafone trying to gauge a reply from the guy and two guys come on saying more or less "dream on" because I reffered to Vodafone UK prices.

People just don't know how to haggle or even start haggling anyway.

Vodafone, 02, Meteor and maybe even 3(never tried) are always open for a good haggle on the phone. I didn't pay a brown penny for my last iPhone( in a round about way ) so wouldn't expect to again.

£99 on Vodafone with a £39 contract(with better minutes etc etc) so I would imagine, EASILY, €199 here with a €65 contract. Change down after 6 months to a €45 contract and you would likely get the phone for free, well on the 4 anyway, so lets assume it will be the same.

I mean, Vodafone/02/Metoer/3, their cost prices should be the same as the 4 as the 4S.

But then again, Irish Operators are very greedy and the UK has far more competition.

Yeah you can haggle with 3 - I did for the iphone 4; I've 2 accounts and got 2 of them but they cost €200 each on a discounted plan from 60 to 40 plus I only signed up for 1 year and not 18 months - I certainly wont be signing up to a 2 year contract!

The iPhone 5 could be out in 6 months! :)

I rang Vodafone to ask when my contract was due to expire and was told I had just expired.

Right so "What upgrade can I have?"
"You're not eligible for an upgrade"
"What, on bill pay for 18 months I'm not entitled to an upgrade"
    "No I'm afraid not"
"Right so put me through to customer retention and I will just close my account"
"Can I put you on hold?"

Lo an behold I was offered a Free iPhone 4 there and then although they wanted me to sign up to a €65PCM for 6 months, drop down to €45 and stay on a 24 month contract. :D

So to keep me as a customer they want me to pay them MORE money.

Silly people. I'm off contract so I'm a free agent. Let them all "tender" for my business. :D

EDIT Meteor have a "Register your interest" link now.
