Hoping Vinny or someone who'd have used iCloud in dev will be able to answer this.

I have an ipad, & iphone 4, wife has iphone 4 also.

We have an itunes account under her name for buying apps etc.

However, if I sync my calendar contacts etc with iCloud will they be pushed out to her or can this be avoided ?

I use my calendar way more than her & have a lot of business contacts in my address book that she'd have no interest in. I also want to minimise the chance of her deleting something on her phone that would later be deleted on mine.

You can turn off individual parts of the iCloud on her device - i.e turn off the contacts, calendar, notes or whatever else you don't want to sync on her device.

When your music is backed up to the cloud, will it just take note of the music you have and use already stored songs to avoid duplication and if so, will your music still take up your allocation of space on your cloud?

Non-iTunes music isn't synced with iCloud. For that you need iTunes Match, a paid-for service which won't be available in Ireland until next year at the earliest, possibly later. In the meantime, you'll have to sync your music using iTunes.

Music purchased from iTunes will be synced with iCloud using iTunes in the Cloud. This won't count towards your 5GB of free iCloud storage. However, iTunes in the Cloud isn't available in Ireland yet either.

Apparently iTunes in the Cloud is rolling out internationally today. No phone signal here so I can't check if the 'Purchased' tab is showing up in my iTunes app.

You're right! Just had a look on my iPhone and there it is. Which is great news. I wasn't expecting us to get it for a while.

You could group your contacts into work etc... and your calendar events into different calendar groupings also, maybe that'll work? I've not had a go of iCloud yet so just throwing that into the mix

you serious about the music backup to the icloud not being availbale in Ireland - I just spent €80 on extra storage to hold my music. All the net talk was about the ability to be able to have your music in the icloud and now its not there?

You don't upload your music to iCloud. The extra storage you bought is useless for that purpose. You need iTunes Match, which works by matching your songs with music on Apple's servers. In the US, it costs $25 a year. It won't be available in Ireland for a while.

You can contact Apple for a refund within 15 days.

I had this problem also.... but with iMessage.... all my messages would be pushed onto her phone.
The explanation I got was that the imsg is only pushed through if u use the same phone number and email which she isnt coz she has her phone no.
Its the same as this with your prob.... she just has to turn icloud off on her device to stop her unit interfering with your IOS cloud Id assume.
