Do I have to remove the root from my Galaxy S to get a warranty repair carried out?

I'll be using phonemenders rather than sending it straight to samsung if that makes a difference.

I know the issue is hardware related as it persists after a flash.

I rooted mine and then the screen broke. I sent it away and they fixed it, but im presuming its coz they couldnt see the thing was rooted until AFTER they fixed the screen! They did also flash it to the stock ROM before sending it back.
