Modern Construction - It's a Marvel

OK I didn't know where to put this as it's quite an odd thread so please excuse me if it's in the wrong forum.

Back in March the missus and myself bought our first house which was a new build. Prior to that we'd been renting various apartments in and around the city centre. Some were fine and some weren't. They were alright places but really nothing to write home about.
A month or so after moving into the house the gas control panel on the wall went kaput. We only just replaced it about 2 weeks ago in anticipation of the bad weather to come. About a week ago I programmed it for hot water and this is what has me smiling.

It's set to come on every morning at 6:50am and turn off at 7am- giving me just enough hot water to wash my face in the mornings. However when I return home from work the water is still warm...... having heated up for just 10 minutes in the morning. That's fecking amazing, I can't believe everything works so well together to be that efficient.

One of the other things that really amazed us when we moved in is that there is no draft to be found around the windows or doors. Not one tiny hint of a draft, they're really efficient at keeping the heat in and the cold out. I'm sitting here in a t-shirt in the middle of November and I haven't touched the heating dial yet. I got up the other morning and it was nice and toasty inside. I opened the door to step out into the garden and do something with the bike and it was freezing outside. When I stepped back into the kitchen I walked into a blanket of nice warm air (no heating had been on).

The last apartment we rented while relatively nice was always freezing cold. I just can't get over how pleasant & efficient modern construction methods make day to day life!
