Thus passes the glory of the world. The 10p Wham chew bar, a long-time favourite of children and scourge of dentists, is to go the way of Spangles, Pacers and Texan Bars, disappearing from the shelves. The maker, New McCowans of Scotland, has announced the closure of its factory, resulting in 100 job losses and the end for the popular sweet, as well as one of Scotland's oldest confectioneries, Highland Toffee. Factories in Devon and Skegness will also close.

The Wham bar was launched in the early 1980s and became popular with children, with sales reportedly hitting 30 million a year at their peak.

Im going to have to get one of these.
