got a call from a gard last week asking me to come into the station wednesday(tomorrow) and collect a summons to appear next month but i forgot all about it and am down the country and wont be back. my friend lives right beside the station is it possible for him to collect it or maybe my brother? Or does it have to be me because it is for me? It's not really that much bother because i could get in another day but just dont wanna be pissing them off ringing them saying i cant make it tomorrow to collect it.

Wrong, they can give it to any relative or they can leave it for you at your work.

    also to re-inforce the above.

I was on holidays when a Garda called to my parents house - left the summons there and that was their job done (I dont live at home but my car is registered to my parents house - I have moved several times in the past few years)...summons served and court appearance dealt with already (struck out - it was an error by Gardai in the First place)
