Hi, we had no water in our general area for 24 hours. I was informed it was a problem with the mains but it has since been rectified Since I was told that it took a further 7 hours for the water to reach our house, which I find very strange. We're in a village and it's not very remote, c 7 miles from Limerick city. We now have water coming in to the house through the mains (kitchen sink and utility sink) but it has not gone in to the water storage tank.
Does anyone know why this might be and what I could do?
Does the water have to reach a certain pressure before it will fill the storage tank in the attic?
Also, have you any idea why it took the water so long to reach the house after i was told at 4pm today the problem had been fixed but water has just reached our house at 1130pm? Is this highly unusual?
    Many thanks to any answers.

Check the float valve inside the main tank, move it up and down gently several times to see if water returns. If not it may be blocked with silt:rolleyes: You need the water off and undo the nuts inside the tank to disassemble the internal parts of the valve. Clean all the silt out and very quickly with a helper and bucket very briefly turn the water on and off to flush out the silt in the pipe. See if you now have water flow:)

Our water was off for a bit on our group scheme last winter(they turned the water off to preserve supplies) and we woke up every day for two weeks without no water!! They said it had been turned on at 8pm but still at 3pm we had no water:mad: I can only come up with 2 possibilities. 1 that everyones tanks were out of water and so the pressure was low and starving us of water? Or that they hadn't actually turned it back on:D
