Can I take books out now that someone has reserved a book I have??

got an email saying i need to bring a book back promptly as someone else has reserved it, need it for another day or so though. Library won't let me reserve any books myself now until I bring it back, does anyone know am I able to take out books now or is that stopped until I bring this book back too?
