A question about Saorview

Could somebody please tell me if the Saorview box will be need to be connected to an external aerial or will it work from just plugging the box into the wall and then connecting it to my television set? I'm thinking mainly about the TV I have in my bedroom as the TV in my sitting room is connected to UPC.

Also, I saw an ad the other day for Mytv which is offering the Saorview box with UK channels included for a one-off price of €345. I'm just wondering if people think this is value? I'm sick and tired of paying UPC for channels that I should be getting for free.

Yes but there are obviously some variables which can stymie decent reception. Outdoor or loft is preferable but many folks are receiving Saorview on indoor aerials perfectly well.

For an indoor aerial you need a strong signal & this can be a bit hit & miss even quite close to a transmitter, due to buildings etc.

Don't spend too much on one if you want to try it.

I use the one below. I'm 20km from Mount Leinster transmitter and this picks up Saorview without any breakup whatsoever. It's necessary to toggle the amplification to maximum to achieve this.

Many scoff at the price /quality etc. but a full install would have cost €150.00 or more. With Argos returns policy, you can try it and take it back if it doesn't deliver Saorview. May also be worth trying a cheapo rabbits ears from a €2 store.
